About Walkin' & Waggin' Pet Service

Walkin' & Waggin' is a pet service in Minnedosa, MB.

As the owner I am very excited to be able to offer this service in town since I enjoy walking every day and love dogs.

Our family has had a number of pets over the years and can't imagine being without them.

Our current pet is a 22 toed (polydactyl) cat called Armani who is very energetic and feisty.

H
e loves playing fetch (yep fetch), greeting us at the door, running up our backs when we aren't watching and getting on our shoulder to see what we're doing. He also enjoys harrassing our son's dog, a 130 lb pyrenes cross.

You're probably thinking, "what about a dog" since the service is about dog walking?

We had a dog before Armani, named Kobe. He was an interesting mixed breed of what appeared to be labs, schnauzer and maybe one or two other breeds.

He was such a good dog and every one that knew him loved him. Oh how he loved playing outside. If you just mentioned the word "play" he'd get so excited and run to the door jumping up and down.

He loved chasing anything you'd throw like balls and sticks. He had a favorite stick that I kept in the garage and whenever I asked if he wanted to go and play, as soon as I opened the door he'd run to where the stick was an grab it so excitedly.

Sadly, one night his back legs quit working and went out straight and he couldn't move them. Of course this caused much concern. We immediately called the vet, and although it was late at night the vet took a look at him.

X-rays showed that his spine was severely calicified and fused in a number of areas (Ankylosing spondylitis).

Surgery in Saskatoon could have been an option but the vets there said he was too far advanced to be helped.

Needless to say that there were many tears as we said goodbye to our faithful friend of 6 years.

Benefits of using my Dog Walking services:

•Exercise helps relieve elimination problems, excessive barking, destructiveness, separation anxiety, and other common behaviour problems.

•Having a dog walker will provide your dog with a consistent routine. Regular exercise helps ensure good physical and mental health.

•Exercise helps your dog expend extra energy.

•Exercise helps maintain and improve muscle tone, joints, and the cardiovascular system.

•Re-enforce good manners, proper leash walking, and training.

•No more messes! Puppies need to go outside every 3 – 4 hours throughout the day for proper housebreaking and socialization.

Benefits of using my Pet Sitting service:

•No travel stress. Pets remain at home in their own familiar surroundings.

•Your house is cared for too! Having a pet sitter at your home provides crime deterrence.

•Save time by not having to drop your pet off and pick them up from a boarding or kennel facility.

•Save money, your pets will not have to stay extra days if you miss the pick up or drop off time, or the facility is closed on a weekend or holiday.
if your household has multiple pets, cats, fish, birds, other than dogs, it may be more effective and more feasible financially to have a pet sitter stay.  Otherwise, you may need to book separate care on top of boarding or kennel fees. Cat sitting is available as well.

•If your pet(s) are very young or elderly, and are likely to require around the clock care, I  will stay overnight, if you book the overnight and the drop in, I will drop in every few hours throughout the day for visits or potty breaks as well!

•Puppies cannot generally be boarded away until they have their last round of vaccinations, and they require extra time and attention, my pet sitting service would be a great choice in this situation. It would also ensure your puppies interactions with people and other dogs are all positive, safe and stress free!

•Pets with injuries, post surgical or recovering from illness will do much better in the comfort of their own homes than in a new or busy environment.
I'm happy to tend to your pet, administer medication and follow any other medical routines your pets may require while you are away.
